Cooking Time

Serves

Yield: 1.5 kg

Recipe Ingredients

  • 3 SPAR Freshline oranges
  • 1 large lemon
  • 375 ml hot water
  • 750 g SPAR white sugar

Recipe Method

  1. Cut the oranges and lemon into quarters, removing pips and the tiny stalk ends.
  2. Place these fruit pieces continuously, through the shute of a food processor, onto the running blade, to finely mince the fruit. Turn this mixture into a SPAR Good Living 3 litre porcelain mixing bowl and pour over the hot water.
  3. Microwave on 100% Power for 10 minutes.
  4. Add the sugar and stir until dissolved. Cook a further 50 minutes, stirring occasionally. The mixture would have reduced by half to a porridge consistency.
  5. Pour the marmalade in a clean and sterilized glass jars.

Hints & Tips

To sterilize cleaned glass jars, fill to the brim with boiling water until required for filling.
To ensure a completely air-tight seal and increased the longevity of the marmalade, light a white wax candle, and allow the melting wax to drip onto the bottled marmalade once it has cooled slight to form a light gel on the top. Place a short loop of string in the center, for easy removal of the wax 'plug' at a later stage. Screw on the jar lid firmly.
